2012 KYD State Convention

Quick Facts for 2012 KYD Convention: 

Registration is now open for the 2012 KYD State convention in Lebanon, KY on March 2-4. You can register for convention for only $40.00 which includes:

- Hotel room for Friday and Saturday at the Lebanon Hampton Inn.

- Appetizers on Friday evening, and dinner on Saturday evening. The hotel provides free continental breakfast every morning, and coffee and snacks will be available throughout the convention.

Don’t forget, you must be a member of a chartered county chapter to cast votes in elections. If you are interested in being selected as a voting delegate for your chapter, please contact your chapter president. If you need help forming a group or getting in touch with your local organization, please contact Brendon Rose at Brendon@KyYoungDems.com.

Nomination Information for KYD Awards:

We will be recognizing those chapters and individuals who have really stood out in the last year.

Get in your nominations for the 2012 Kentucky Young Democrats Awards, including:

High School Chapter of the Year
College Chapter of the Year
Kentucky Young Democrats Chapter of the Year
Kentucky Young Democrat of the Year

Submit nominations to Lauren Ingram at Lauren@KyYoungDems.com by Friday, February 24th, 2012 with the subject line “2012 KYD Awards”.  Please include the nominated chapter or person with a brief description of why they should be selected.

Advertise in the convention booklet:

We are also now offering a great opportunity for you or your chapter to advertise at convention. You may purchase an ad in the convention booklet at the low price of $25 for 1/4 page, and $50 for 1/2 page here. Ads are due no later than March 1st.

Amendments to the KYD Charter & Bylaws:

If you have any proposed amendments to the KYD Charter & Bylaws they should be submitted in writing to the Convention Rules Chair prior to the convening of the Rules Committee Meeting on Saturday morning.  Please address any questions to Clint Morris at clint@kyyoungdems.com.

Tentative Schedule Details:

While we are still working on the schedule, some details are as follows:

- Friday night, we will host Secretary of State and Young Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes at an informal reception. Appetizers will be served.

- Saturday, we will have a day full of informational trainings and speakers, and a field trip to Maker’s Mark.

- Sunday, we will have more trainings and exciting speakers, including KDP Chair Dan Logsdon and Political Director Jared Smith and KY Obama Director Keidra King, and we will give out annual awards and conduct elections.

If you plan to vote for candidates at the convention or run for office yourself, you must be a member of a chartered chapter at convention. All chapters are now required to re-charter annually. If you don’t know if you are a member of a chartered group or would like to start one, please email Brendon Rose at Brendon@KyYoungDems.com to get started.
