Let’s get more women elected

Young Democrats,

Did you know that in 2009, Kentucky ranked 49th in the United States for women in elected office?  Only one state in the union had a smaller percentage of elected officials, and for that reason, I proud to let you know that the Kentucky Young Democrats have decided to work on increasing that percentage.

This year, we have decided to sponsor two Kentucky Young Democrats in the Emerge Kentucky program, a training program for women who want to run for office here in the Commonwealth. We are excited to watch Laken Gilbert of Fleming County and Jacqalynn Riley of Grant County as they begin Emerge and grow as leaders. We know they will be strong Democratic elected officials one day.

I’m emailing to ask if you can help us help them. Are you able to donate $10 or $20 today to help these two bright young women get the tools necessary to run for office in the future? Please donate what you can to help ensure more Kentucky women are elected to office.

Let’s make it a goal to reach the top. Let’s get more women elected – and let’s get more Democrats elected – in Kentucky. Together, I know we can.

Best regards,

Lauren Ingram
